Former ORE, Patrick Sullivan won UH 2013 Distinguished Alumni Award

Sullivan got his master's and phd. in our department. Since 2007, Sullivan has served on the UH Manoa College of Engineering dean's council and was a former adjunct faculty member in the Department of Ocean & Resources Engineering.

Students

  • ORE Ph.D. Student, Kay Gemba, took First Place in the International Student Challenge Problem in Acoustical Signal Processing sponsored by the Acoustical Society of America. A link to his solution can be found HERE. He is a student of Professor Nosal.
  • ORE Ph.D. Student, Yaprak Onat, has been selected to be one of the 2013 - 2014 winners of the Denise B. Evans Fellowships, administered by the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and Planetology. This $28,000 fellowship will be for a full year of support. She is one of the Ph.D. students of Professor Ertekin. Read more HERE.
  • MS student of ORE, Jerica Nolte, is awarded to the IEEE Oceanic Society Scholarship to study hydrodynamic forces of a WEC buoy tethered to a sea anchor. The award amount is $2,000 for the 2012-2013 academic year. She is a student of Professor Ertekin.
  • MS student of ORE, Jerica Nolte, is awarded to the Society Graduate Scholarship of SNAME to study hydrodynamic forces of a WEC buoy tethered to a sea anchor. The award amount is $5,000 for the 2012-2013 academic year. She is a student of Professor Ertekin.
  • Former MS student of ORE, Dominique Roddier's, design of a three-legged semisubmersible floating wind turbine, a first by a US company, won the Excellence in Renewable Energy Award in Innovation. He received his PhD. from Berkeley in 2000. He was a student of Professor Ertekin. Read more HERE.
  • ORE Ph.D. Student, Masoud Hayatdavoodi, has won the prestigious Link Foundation Ocean Engineering Fellowship for 2011-2012. This $25,000 award is the largest student prize in ocean engineering in the world. He is one of the Ph.D. students of Professor Ertekin. Read more HERE.
